Dr. Andrew Mitchell presents: "Pain and Hope of 'Living not by Lies’: The Anguished Witness of Whittaker Chambers" in his, "Letter to My Children"

Whittaker Chambers’ article has been linked so you may reference it and participate in Dr. Mitchell’s lecture more fully. Come, take a break from the immediate cares and anxieties you are facing, and listen with me to the anguished wisdom of Whittaker Chambers, a man unafraid to break from the lies of Communism and live. Through the testimony of this slovenly Philadelphian we will come to understand the complexities and the limits of what it means to be human, so that we too can face suffering, not just in the ethical sense so powerfully witnessed to by Jordan Peterson, but also in the spirit of hope, one of the three Christian virtues.

Dr. Mark Graham presents: Epic Cosmological Battles of History, Part the Second: Geocentrists vs. Heliocentrists

This lecture takes a historical (and sometimes iconoclastic) look at the beginnings of the Scientific Revolution of the early modern period, particularly the conflicts between the new heliocentrists and the traditionalist geocentrists. Topics include the Neoplatonism of Copernicus, the dogmatic geocentrism of Martin Luther and John Calvin, and the Apocalypticism of Isaac Newton.

Dr. Luke Rumbaugh presents: People and their Robots Explore the World and Fix (Some of) Its Problems

This talk will show how robots and machine learning are helping us make discoveries about the world and find solutions for people’s problems faster than ever before. We will look at how science and technology work together like a lock and key: As science better understands the world (the lock) and technologies become more advanced (the key), problems are unlocked and new life-improving solutions are opened. We will celebrate where robots are currently accelerating both science and technology and creating new solutions to long-standing problems. Finally, we will discuss some of the big problems still awaiting solution and give you about five minutes to solve them. You are allowed to bring your own robots and neural networks to this talk.
